Phoenix, AZ / March 11, 2014 / A very special presentation will take place on Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 at the new Cubs Park in Mesa.  Just before the first pitch at the Cubs vs. Angels Spring Training game, a deserving military hero will receive a mortgage-free home thanks to the efforts of the Boot Campaign’s Heroes to Homeowners program and a contribution from Wallick & Volk Mortgage.

Sergeant Sigifredo (“Ziggy”) Buenrrostro (Ret.) joined the US Army in 2002.  He was deployed to Iraq in February 2003, November 2005 and October 2007.  During his years of service to our Country, Sgt. Buenrrostro received numerous awards and commendations including the Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Iraq Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star.  While in Iraq, Sgt. Buenrrostro was part of security patrols that were subject to IED attack.

Sgt. Buenrrostro has been married to his wife Evelyn for 14 years and together they have 5 beautiful daughters ranging in age from 13 years to 1 year-old.  Through the Heroes to Homeowners program, and a special contribution from Wallick & Volk Mortgage, this family will receive a mortgage-free home which will provide security for the entire family and a place for Sgt. Buenrrostro to continue his recovery

The Heroes to Homeowners campaign is a program of the national nonprofit, Boot Campaign, and was championed by The Duncan Group and Mortgage Coach to bring together mortgage industry leaders to show support for our nation’s military and honor our wounded veterans.   By creating a special partnership with the Boot Campaign, and the organization’s program partner Military Warriors Support Foundation, the group will sponsor a total of 9 mortgage-free homes for 9 combat wounded veterans and their families. Sgt. Buenrrostro’s property was donated by Chase Bank.

Michael Groff, President and CEO of Wallick & Volk Mortgage noted, “We have been privileged to help many veterans organizations over the years, but to be able to sponsor a mortgage-free home for Sgt. Buenrrostro and his wonderful family is an amazing opportunity for us to make a real difference in the life of a hero.”  Jim Volk, Chairman of Wallick & Volk Mortgage added, “Our military and their families make sacrifices day after day and year after year to protect all that we hold dear. It is an honor to be able to help Sgt. Buenrrostro and his family.”

The Boot Campaign is a national 501c3 nonprofit that is dedicated to showing tangible appreciation of our active military, raising awareness of the challenges they face upon return and supporting their transition home.  Through the sale of its signature military combat boots, general public donations, and corporate sponsorship, the Boot Campaign operates five distinct initiatives -- Jobs, Housing, Wellness, Urgent Assistance and Family Support-- that are caring for military personnel, past and present, healing from a variety of physical and emotional combat wounds, embodying the campaign motto that, “When They Come Back, We Give Back.”
